Whats up In The Boon Docks

Image
Blueberry Park fabric just cheers up a room! I finished quilting the blocks and turned turned them into pillows. Covered up my old and worn couch pillows. In The Boon Docks: Sewing and Family is where I wrote about making these blocks and how I did it. I started working on this Alison Glass embroidery pattern while my daughter was in the hospital! I drew it out using the hold it up to the window method (light box) with the fabric over the pattern, using my washable pen. So, when I am all done was the ink away with a washcloth! Only problem it gets kinda wrinkly. If I iron it the steam it my take away the drawing. My Floss StoryKnowing I would not have a sewing machine available for 2 weeks I packed projects I could work on in the hospital! I packed this pattern and a variety of Aurifil Thread weights. I was going to do this project with all Aurifil Floss, but somehow the floss bag got left at home. Instead, I only had 12 wt., 50 wt., and 80 wt., so I used what I had! I am very…

Big BlocksIn The Boon Docks: Bella Skill Builder Month 5 , I was making half square triangles using 3" Half Square Triangle Paper Triangles on a Roll #H300 | Fat Quarter Shop and then came the Sew Sampler® Subscription Quilting Box for May with Blueberry Park by Karen Lewis for Robert Kaufman in it! What beautiful fabrics! There are so many blocks you can make with these triangle papers, I and when I saw this one on the internet, I had a idea! New Summer Couch pillows. The blocks are done but the pillows will have to wait for now.Everything here sewn with Aurifil 50 wt. thread! I find these 3" triangles super easy to use and make perfect (8) half square triangles at once and invested in multiple sizes! Note: a 3" half square triangle is 2 1/2" when sewn!I love getting Sew Sampler each month! You definitely get a great bang for your buck!Little Lilly and family are all doing great! Coming home has really made me feel the distance. This is one of my favorite pict…

Spellbound Quilt Along Part 1

Spellbound Quilt AlongHi Everyone, welcome to In The Boon Docks! I am almost done with my Spellbound Quilt and will have it up tomorrow! An few unexpected hospital procedures and running out of a primary fabric kind of threw me for a loop!Tips1. I use small Wonder clips to show what side to sew on and a large Wonder clip to hold each section together! This helps when you are chain piecing!2. Use a 1/4" sewing foot on you machine and Chain piece - even the strips it will go faster that way.3. Get the Creative Grid 90 Degree Double Strip Ruler you will find lots of uses for these and other blocks you can think up. It is a great investment and so easy to use.Check out the Spellbound Quilt Along - Fat Quarter Shop's Jolly Jabber then watch the Youtube Video to see just how easy these beautiful blocks are to make. I am making this quilt for my Granddaughter and am super excited about getting it finished. Please stop by the other bloggers in the quilt along and see the variety of w…

Back in December when I saw the post on this linky party at Patty's blog Elm Street Quilts: Happy 2016! Word16 beginsI really wanted to participate! Time is limited, but the more I thought about it the more determined I became to do a mini. What WORD would describe what I wanted to do this year. Going into my fourth year as a blogger I have gotten opportunities that I would never have had without blogging. Making quilts and projects for designers and companies is like a dream come true for me. For almost 4 years, I have hopped all over Blogland trying to gain followers and keep it interesting. This year I am going to do that and work on making things to beautify our home. I look at people like Lori Holt's Bee In My Bonnet home and gasp with delight. From quilts to curtains you will see things you will want to make.Home is not just a house but a place filled with love Home is were the heart is... Welcome to "In The Boon Docks"

Today I am a Hexie Queen Wanna bee! I have finished the quilt top! Yippee!

Thank you Madame Samm @ Sew We QuiltandDebbie @ Debby Kratovil Quiltsfor organizing and cheering us all on. Madame Samm your challenge almost got me this time.

Time for a reality check, I cannot do hexie's by hand (I have tried), so that leaves me and my machine! This project started back in March and needed to be finish. I hope you like "Meet the Lorax" Trying to find the right blocks instead of using a pattern can sometimes get me in trouble. I think David will be very happy when it is done!

I started out making blocks from Fons & Porters "Easy Quilts" Cascarone Quilt but realized it really was not a pattern for directional fabric after making (4) of the triangles. Then one day I was on Youtube and found a video from Missouri Star Quilt Co. "The Tea Cup Quilt". Youtube video I linked to it for you The Tea Cup Quilt What a great …
