PBS Fabrics Herringbone Baby Quilt

Image
I recently was offered opportunity to sew with Paintbrush Studio Fabrics Painters Palette Solid to making a Herringbone Baby Quilt.
The company sent the fabric and it was  like Christmas around here. The PBS Fabrics wanted to highlight the Painters Palette Solids collection but especially  Lipstick which is rows 3 and 4 in the quilt below. Painters Palette Solids Pantone color of the year!

The first thing I noticed where the colors  bright, the fabrics soft, light weight, and sleek! Perfect for a baby quilt or any quilt!
The colors included Painters Palette Solids
White, Crimson, Tomato, (2 rows) of Lipstick, Verbena, and Salmon

The Herringbone Quilt Pattern by Melissa Mortensen Of Polkadot Chair  (Link to free pattern) It is a free .pdf pattern  and has a great herringbone chart that I used. It includes directions for making HST’s!
But I found a wonderful way to make lots of perfect  HST that once cut apart and sewn are 7” Half Square Triangles Using  7” Triangles on a Roll - It’s Sew Emma 7” Triangles on a …

Swan Dive with the Fat Quarter Shop

Image
The Fat Quarter Shop is giving away another pattern! Free Swan Dive Pattern
(The link will take you to the Jolly Jabber blog post)You can buy a kit from them or just buy
Jolly Bar Cake Mix A Jolly Bar and background fabric!
I really love these sheets they make it so easy to make  Perfect HST’s!

It is all very easy to make! One sheet makes 10 HST’s  and they are perfect! If you don’t want to use a Jolly Bar (5”x10”) then  find a nice Layer Cake (10”x10”)
I used Anagram by Kimberly Kite with the Ruby Star Society  (For a different look) and cut it in half (5”x10”)
You will need a background fabric which you  can cut your own to (5”x10”) or use a solid Jolly Bar
Bella Solid Jolly Bar

Put the 2 fabrics right sides together  and a sheet on top!  Pin to keep them from moving and sew on the lines!

I love working with the Fat Quarter Shop they give so much  to the sewing and quilting community!
Look at all the half square triangles!

Start sewing them together using the pattern, And you have a table runner or a quilt! 9 b…

This helped when I raw edge applicated it on the 5" square! But I am getting ahead of myself. I outlined the spider on some iron on double sided interfacing! Then centered everything on the red cross in the green square. Ironed it on the 5" x 5" square. Sewed the raw edge applique then the web string. I am sure there is a better word, but I cannot think of it! Sew the 2 1/2" borders on, match at top, trim! I do sides first then to…

Quilt Qwazy Queens Giveaway

Image
Welcome to the Quilt Qwazy Queens blog Hop! My friends and I, with the great organization skills of Marian Seams To Be Sew are celebrating International Quilt Day by participating in this blog hop! You can win great prizes by simply visiting the blogs and leaving a comment! Then do the Rafflecopter!Marian told me I could write about anything. I am Lisa and I quilt and do a bunch of other crafty things in a rural area in West Virginia. I learned to sew after an accident left me disabled and unemployed. Having worked since I was 14 years old doing nothing was not an option. I could not work or drive but I needed something in my life to do. I have physical and mental issue to deal with during this time. A woman, the owner, with a lot of patience at a local quilt store took the time and a lot of effort to teach me the basics of how to use a sewing machine and quilt. Without Michelle and her staff at WV Quilt: Barboursville WV, I would never have learned. I am so grateful to the…
