Around The World Blog Hop

If you have been following along,
It really has been all over the world
and I have enjoyed reading them all!

My name is Lisa and Welcome to "In The Boon Docks"
I was very happy to be asked to participate
by Lea Anne of Podunk Pretties!

Lea Anne is very talented quilter, has a beautiful blog and is a quilt pattern designer. Best thing is her patterns are free (not for much longer probably), yes she is that good! My personal favorite is Cherry on Top Picnic Quilt

I have been told that I live in
"Gods Country"
out here in a little corner
of West Virginia, USA

My husband and I
raise kids, animals, fruits and vegetables!
I a quilter, the kind that pieces quilt tops together!
I sew making small, medium, and large projects!

Question 1: What am I working on?
I just finished the Flowering Snowball Mini Quilt above it incorporated working with curves, and hand quilting, both out of my comfort zone. I'll just say, I will do more curves in the future, and l…

I started searching through my stash

I used small blue gingham on the inside for the lining!

Strawberries are really popular
on Instagram lately and the red made for great contrast!
I found these two strawberries on a scrap of fabric and ironed on
HeatnBond Lite by therm-o-web.
Cut them out, peeled the back off,
and ironed them on my front panel!

Then using Aurifil 50 wt. threads sewed…

Stitch on Prints and a Giveaway

Image
Giveaway Closed Winner LouWhen I got the opportunity to make a pattern designed by Madam Samm of Sew We QuiltI jumped at the chance! I just love participating in the blog hops originating from her blog. The her Tammy Bag is gorgeous and just what I need to keep my Aurifil 12 wt. thread in with my little needle book and scissor case! These are my three fabrics I chose to make the "Tammy Bag". I wanted a medium to large print (Beachfront Cottage by RJR Fabrics) for my outside (to stitch on) and a contrasting print (marbly fabric by Northcott) for the inside. The diamond gold fabric (Hoffman California International Fabrics) is my rebellion from the pattern for the piping on the outside pockets. I have had these fabrics in my stash for about 4 or 5 years.

Do you ever save fabric you love to find just the right project for it? I am hoping this will be beautiful! I love the seashells! This will be one of the outside pockets when I am done. Just so you know I will not do …

Repairing Utilitarian Old Quilts

Image
First, I just have to show you Apple Jack Cotton, by Tim and Beck, from Moda. Isn't this fabric line so cute! I won a jellyroll during theQuilting GalleryBlog Hop from Sharon @ Vroomans Quilts! Thank you Sharon, you have such great taste in fabric, I plan on something fun for my littlest baby girl! The next blog hop will be "April Showers" withMadam Samm! I bought this old quilt at a yard sale for a $1.00. It had no batting, just a piece of muslin sewn on. One day I planned to deconstruct it so I could practice Free Motion Quilting (FMQ) that day has arrived! Repairs needed to be made where it had a couple of little wear holes. I grabbed a couple of scraps and went to work. Cut a scrap bigger than your hole. Then iron all 4 sides over about 1/8". Cut out a piece of "Heat Bond", I used "Lite" because that is what I had on hand, that fits almost to all the sides (to big and you get yuck on your iron). Now, iron the "Heat Bond" down o…
