FPP Patterns

Image
Kristy has some great Tutorials on her blog to help improve or teach you FPP Quiet Play: Tutorials I really enjoy foundation paper piecing and hope you give it a try! She has a few free patterns you can start with to see if you enjoy it and go from there.I recently was in a swap doing foundation paper piecing (FPP) with Quiet Play patterns by Kristy. Her patterns are great for anyone from beginner to advanced and are available Quiet Play's Pattern Store | Craftsy . The way the swap worked was you picked your 3 favorite patterns and your partner would make you one of them, and you would do the same for someone else. In Secret swaps you making for one person and that person makes for someone else. I like this type it is a lot of fun!
My parnter had chosen two mermaids and another pattern! I chose the GeometricMermaid Paper Pieced Pattern | Craftsy design amoung the three Quiet Play Patterns she had in her mosaic. I was afraid right up until I finished it that maybe I had bitten off…

Wonky Star Mini Quilt

Image
Starry Night Mini Quilt
19" x 19"Fabrics: Blueberry Park, Lula Magnolia, Threads: Aurifil 50 wt.Reduction of a Foundation Pieced Pattern! To make this mini quilt I reduced Jeli Quilts pattern "Wonky Star Quilt Top" pattern by 50%. Then adding the 1/4 seam allowance back to each piece. The Jeli Quilts pattern is available for free from Craftsy. Wonky star quilt top - Free pattern by Jeliquilts - Craftsy
Sew on a folded square piece of fabric on the top two corners will make it easy to hang with a dowl rod! Do this before sewing on your binding at 1/8"! Then sew on your binding and it re-enforces it for hangingn the wall!Make sure whenever you shrink a FPP pattern that you add the 1/4" back on to the pieces and print them off again.
This was made for the Instagram swap #starblockquiltswap! My favorite Aurifil 50 wt. thread and bobbini! They work great together!Until next time! LisaCreate and be unique - Lisa

Nellie Block 77 Farmers Wife 1930s

Image
Hello all Farmer's Wife 1930s lovers I thought I'd share my block for last week #77 Nellie. You can find information about the blocks released last week over at Angie's Nellie is Block 77 of Farmer's Wife 1930's Sampler Quilt - GnomeAngelI used the foundation paper piecing technique to complete this block. Looking at the book I saw the block one way and when I started putting it together realized I was really happy I used a non-directional fabric in the sections I did not "fussy cut". I had to turn a few pieces upside down so it didn't come out different than the book. Yes, I said I turned them upside down. The "Nellie" block just begged to have a little fussy cutting. It will added to the final quilt my love of the beach. The Official blogger for #77 Nellie is Sedef and you can find her tutorial
