Aurifil Thread DOM Reboot

Aurifil is going back to 2012! To give you a chance to revisit embroidery design blocks. In 2012, Aurifil Floss was not invented and everyone used Aurifil 12 wt. thread to do embroidery. But now, Aurifil offers 270 stunning colors of Aurifloss, 100% Cotton 6-strand floss but I still use 12 wt. to hand stitch designs and love it! So whether you use floss or 12 wt. these designs are still so cute that they shout to be made by the public again. Aurifil is having a monthly linky party with the blocks and you could win Aurifil Floss!Interested? Go visit Stitch the 2012 DOM Reboot: January | AURIbuzz and download the January block and instructions. Designer Roseann Kermes of Rosebud’s Cottage first introduced her Snowbird block in January of 2012. What a great way to practice your embroidery skills! I think I will try to make the one a month too! So, that link again is Stitch the 2012 DOM Reboot: January | AURIbuzz Stitch up your very own version of Snow Bird and upload a photo of you…

The Tammy Project Bag Blog Hop
Day 2

Madam Samm of Sew We Quiltis a super talented lady and when I spotted that she had a free pattern she created available for this blog hop, I couldn't wait to sign up! She is also our "Head Cheerleader" but isn't she always! Gotta love her, she keeps us all busy and entertained! Thank you Madam for the great experience of creating my own Tammy Bag! This bag is nice and roomy! Cupcake agrees with me! It has 4 great pockets to hold my lovely Aurifil thread for a stitching project! Madam Samm's pattern was the answer to a pray! By changing the piping around backwards, I could stitched it down with my machine. Of course, then I had to do a little stitching on the pockets to bring out the fabric design! Now, I had a few problems …

Le Challenge

This month's challenge was "Wings" so guess what has wings? Birds!

So I submit to the Le Challenge Group
I am excited to show you what I made! Working to create a little texture for my birdies I used Aurifil Thread 12 wt. It is wonderful to use to hand stitch, embroider, or cross-stitch. I fussy cut the birds out of this cute fabric "Just Hanging" and went to work stitching. The stitches really look great on printed fabric designs. I am new to embroidery and can't do it for a long time but I really love the way it looks. I hope you do too! The basket pattern I used I have blogged about before, so you can find out about it HERE, if you would like to know more. It is a great pattern! Thank you for stopping by In The Boon Docks" and please visit in the future!

It's for the Birds

Hi! Welcome to "In The Boon Docks"!
At our house we have lots of birds flying, eating and running around. Some days the wild turkeys come down and eat up the chicken feed for my Rooster and three hens that live here on our property. I have (6) pullets (bigger than a chick but smaller than a hen) that I have raised from chicks that live in a "hen house". Cardinals, bluejays, nut hatches, and many more birds nest on the hill behind our house. Can you tell I like birds? Well I do!

So when Madam Samm announced this blog hop I just had to sign up! Her blog hops are so popular that if you don't sign up quick you never get in. The challenge is trying to come up with ideas to excite the readers and please the Madam! She is very nice but expects your best! I am kind of worried this time her "It's for the Birds" and mine aren't quite the some. But she is very generous and always cheers us on! Thank you Madam Sammand our cheerleader Mary fromI …

April Showers Blog Hop

Thanks you Madame Samm Sew We Quilt! and Erin Sew At Home Mummyfor being the best cheerleaders in the world. Madame Samm I love how you keep thinking up great hops! You keep us challenged, that is for sure! I love "Stitching On Prints" it is so fun! I tried out DMC Cotton Perle, Aurifil, and a pack of cheap stuff with great colors. The Cotton Perle is inexpensive and works pretty well. The cheap stuff is awful it is hard to pull through the fabric and I will not buy again. The Aurifil is just right. I hope to get more and start "Stitching On Print" a series. Where we work together once a week and learn stitches. I love the effect in the mug rug. April Showers Blog Hop Day 1!

These are the Blogger for April 8, 2013. The April Showers Blog Hop is from April 8 - 18, 2013. Please stop by and give a comment for all their hard work. You can get the full schedule at Erin's blog Sew At Home Mummy
