Retreat Bag 2.0

Image
I love Santa Fe by Sara Watts as soon as I saw it in the Culcita box I knew I wanted something special.  My husbands birthday was coming up so I decided on a medicine pouch! It had to be big and different!
I saw a post on IG for the Internal Wire Frames for the Retreat Bag 2.0 by Emmaline Bags it said the pattern was free. I am sorry I don’t remember the shops name.  The frames for the large where $4.00 so I bought 4. I figured if it proved to hard I’d sell the rest. But if I liked the pattern I had them on hand to make more! Do you ever do that? Sometimes I end up with a bunch of junk I will never use.  But not this time! He loves the bag!  It is big and roomy!

It has two pockets.
 Problems for me
Never sewn a zipper on the outside of a bag before. So, I searched on YouTube and found a video tutorial on sewing the bag by Birdcage and Thread. She does a great job explaining everything you need to do to make the bag.

The hardware intimidated me! How in Heaven was I going to sew bars into t…

Geranium Dress and other makes

Hello Everyone, I have had such an exciting week with the birth of little Miss Lilly, her Momma's C-section, and no wi-fi in their home to do my posting! It is delightful being here but I guess you never think of something until you don't have it! Lucky me, I will walk down the road to a candy store to post! But hey whatever works and they offered! More about them another time. Meet Miss Kennedy, my new kinda Granddaughter! She is Lilly's half sister by another Mom. She is sporting my first ever dress by me without a pattern, In Cotton and Steel's Panda fabric! She is such a beautiful and sweet little girl! She loved playing princess for me after I made her dress but is a little camera shy. I will claim her! Miss Lilly Anne who arrived on Monday, May 1, 2017, at 8 lbs 4 oz, and 20 inches long, is sporting a Geranium Dress, also Cotton and Steel's Panda fabric! First Invisible Zipper

Image
Are your couch pillows looking a little old and flat, mine sure where until I started covering them. With a boy at home ours seem to end up on the floor more than on the couch, since he and his friends like to lay on them and play games. I tried envelope closures but they seem to gape open. So, I thought I'd try an invisible zipper. Prepare the fronts of both pillows! I quilted both tops to add a little structure since my pillows were kind of flat! This one looks pretty good! Matching the fabric back together can be a little hard since you are cutting it in half. Making a 1" fold over on one side. That hides the zipper. Doing a a 1/4 roll over hem on the other side. Sewing in the zipper. Oops! I bet a small print fabric would have worked better on this one! Make sure you get a long enough invisible zipper. I used a 16" - 18" one. (fat quarter cut in half)! Sewing the first side worked like a charm but how not to sew the flap when I sewed the other. Pin it! Now…
