Image
Hello everyone, welcome to "In The Boon Docks" today is my day for the Halloween Haunts 2015 Blog Hop! I am so excited to share a little history and some new Halloween projects I have been working on for this hop!Thank you Marian of Seams To Be Sew for organizing this great hop! I love being back with so many familiar blogs. Many of us have done hops for years together! I am enjoying the new blogs too! So much talent in this hop! I appreciate what you have taken on for everyone's enjoyment!Favorite Costume My Mommy (Joyce) and Daughter AshleyIn 1990, my Mom came for Halloween. I was pregnant and had nothing for my daughter to wear for Halloween. I had never seen my mother sew anything! In a day, she dyed a white sheet and a long sleeve shirt orange. She went shopping for ribbon, elastic, green and black felt. Made a pattern out of newspaper for the pumpkin face, green around the neck, and a hat. Sewed it into this awesome pumpkin costume for my oldest daughter Ash…

On the home front Spent my day rolling coins with David to buy his big birthday present! He got up this morning and told me he would count out his big penny jar so he could buy the new Disney XBox game that will be released next week. After rolling $30 in pennies everyone in the house started donating their silver coins which grew our pot to $103 rolled coins. That was a lot of change to take to GameStop to prepay for this expensive game. I called the store and ask them if we showed up with all this change my little man had counted and help roll would they take it. I didn't want him turned away at the counter. They said yes they would do it and treated him great as my husband plunked the backpack on the counter. David felt very grown up as he made his order. Thank you Ed at GameStop! We will try to have patience until it arrives.

I just love his new glasses! He is excited to wear them to school next week. T…

Simple Joys

"Simple Joys in Life"! My family is my life. My husband - I love him so much I feel like I could burst sometimes! My beautiful daughters bring me joy just talking to them. My grandchildren are so delightful and fun just to hold! But David keeps me much busier than that! I don't know were my life would be without him! Yes! These two are family and part of the simple joy I have everyday! I love making things even if it is not a quilt, sewing little things to give to or swap with others! It brings me such joy sending off things for someone else to get a surprise in the mail. I have yet to be disappointed on what I received in return! The look on a child's face when you give them something you made just for them! (Last weeks starts and finishes). I love fabrics - to look, hold, pet, buy, create! It gives me so much pleasure just going through my fabric containers looking for the next project! Big joy comes when going to quilt stores! The daffodils poking their hea…

Baby Photographer?

Image
My husband and I decided to make a quick run to our daughters yesterday for the day, to see her family. My daughter wanted me to take some photographs of "Zoey" for birth announcements. We went out and bought a few props and came back to the apartment and went to work. My daughters significant other was at work until 7 pm last night. His reaction to what was going on when he got home made me laugh. I will explain more in a minute. Here are the photos of our attempt to get the perfect shot! Ha ha. Our beautiful butterfly! This is my favorite one but look at all the junk in the background! Here she was telling me "Please give me my pacifier back"! Don't take a binky away from a tired baby! Oops bad idea! Happy baby with the big ugly plug! Lessons Learned: Pay for professional pictures, those photographers earn every penny!
I present 5 week old "Zoey"Now back to Michael, he came rushing through the apartment door because as he said "I could hea…

Surviving Spring Break

Favorite Foods!
I have to say nothing is prettier than a Mixed Berry Pie!

I hadn't baked it or put the topping on it yet but it looked so pretty!

Mug Rug or Mini Quilt
My BFF of about 24 years became a grandma, and what started as a mug rug, ended up a Mini Quilt, my first one. I hope she will like it. I made it from the scraps from her grandsons quilt. Then put it in the mail.
It's so small but I feel Very proud. For you quilters, I have nothing but admiration for you, it is very hard to keep the lines straight.

Children
David had his first sleepover with his friend Christian. I think both boys had a great time. No sleep but a great time. David and his friend are wanna be Jedi's!

Charity Work
Still here, Great! This week Salt Rock CEOS worked on clothing protectors for Hospic. Find something you can make for an organization in your area. If we all give back just a little bit we can make a big difference.

Back to school tomorrow for hubby and David. I'll find something…
