Where Flowers Bloom Blog Hop Day 1

For months now many people have been working  on all kinds of flower projects to inspire you!   Carla of Creatin’ in the Sticks is our hostess and  I am grateful to be able to participate in this blog hop.
I went through a bunch of fabric trying to figure out what I wanted to make.   At the time my oldest daughter had her second daughter in less than a year. Carla said we could make anything as long as it has flowers! So, I did a little creative thinking!
Having been killing time at doctors appointments and  at the hospital I had been watching a lot of online classes and Youtube videos!  I came across a sewing course on  Creativebug called  Wardrobe Basics: Sewing Tunic No. 1Using her -  #100 Acts of Sewing Patterns (Which are free with the course) By Sonya Philips
Flower Tunic 1

This fabric is by Anna Maria Horner and comes in 4 colorways! I think it is gorgeous! I did not alter the pattern at all on this one.

Nuts About ? Blog Hop and Giveaway

I have always loved a good blog hop and this is a great one so far! Nuts About ? was thought up by Marian of Seams To Be Sew! She is such a sweet hostess. Thank you Marian for all your hard work. I spent a great deal of time thinking about what I am nuts about! My family (yes, but not for a hop), I truly love pincushions, but I really do have a thing for pillows!I am Nuts for - PillowsDon't you just love Charlie Harper! I do! Sometimes a print is just to perfect to cut up. Do a little straight line quilting and make pretty pillows for your couch. The lighting in my house was bad today, so out on the lawn for photos.
Here are a few I have made over the last 8 months! Great way to practice invisible zippers!
Making couch cushions kind of brightens up a room! Holidays is just one reason to make a pillow or two!
Even the neck pillow got recovered! Love the blue roses by Cotton + Steel! It is removeable.
These were all made using Lori Holt patterns from her book, Farm Girl Vintage (I am nu…

Day 1

3 projects

Project 1
Riley Blake Designs Gingham.

I started searching through my stash
and found the blue medium gingham
and this great matching blue with white polka dots!
I used small blue gingham on the inside for the lining!

Strawberries are really popular
on Instagram lately and the red made for great contrast!
I found these two strawberries on a scrap of fabric and ironed on
HeatnBond Lite by therm-o-web.
Cut them out, peeled the back off,
and ironed them on my front panel!

Then using Aurifil 50 wt. threads sewed…

Beautiful quilt and the colors are fantastic! I was about 8 when my GM let me use my hands to move the treadle on her machine, lol!
Such a nice comment, thank you Judy!

A lot of Grandmothers have taught people to sew! I plan to teach both my grandchildren to sew even if it is sewing on buttons and simple things. The internet - I am proud to see how many of you are self taught, self starters, future designers out there in blogland. Judy, I hope you enjoy your winnings!

What a great Hop! So glad I got to participate! Very happy you all stopped by and left so many comments sharing a "wink" into your lives!
Thank you!

Be a Hexie Queen Blog Hop

Welcome to "In The Boon Docks"

Today I am a Hexie Queen Wanna bee! I have finished the quilt top! Yippee!

Thank you Madame Samm @ Sew We QuiltandDebbie @ Debby Kratovil Quiltsfor organizing and cheering us all on. Madame Samm your challenge almost got me this time.

Time for a reality check, I cannot do hexie's by hand (I have tried), so that leaves me and my machine! This project started back in March and needed to be finish. I hope you like "Meet the Lorax" Trying to find the right blocks instead of using a pattern can sometimes get me in trouble. I think David will be very happy when it is done!

I started out making blocks from Fons & Porters "Easy Quilts" Cascarone Quilt but realized it really was not a pattern for directional fabric after making (4) of the triangles. Then one day I was on Youtube and found a video from Missouri Star Quilt Co. "The Tea Cup Quilt". Youtube video I linked to it for you The Tea Cup Quilt What a great …
