Bella Skillbuilder Month 3

Image
It is April 1st and time for a new block Bella Skillbuilder Month 3 - Fat Quarter Shop's Jolly Jabber this month we are making "Pineapple" blocks! Are you ready to get started on month 3? Let's grab our Bella Skillbuilder Quilt Kits! Kimberly and Sherri McConnell from A Quilting Life walk you through the Pineapple blocks in this YouTube video! Be sure to download the free April 2017 pattern!
The quilt along requires new skills and rulers, at least for me! This month the ruler that we are using is the Creative Grids Pineapple Trim Tool Creative Grids #CGRJAW3 ! The way I make it work for me: Download the free pattern and order the ruler that is being used. Since I didn't order the kit, I decide what colors I am going to use bella solids yardage and order it at the same time it is averaging out to about $25 a month! Some rulers are less and if I use a fabric I already bought no cost! I love the non slip on the bottom of the rulers. It is an investment in the…

First, if you are looking for the Giveaway click HERE!. Welcome to all the new followers and thank you all for sharing about your favorite birthday presents! I will say we have a lot of iPads and Kindles out there! I am still trying to get threw all the comments! The best thing for a blogger is a full inbox! I had a giveaway once with only 5 people, so this is really Awesome! Yippee! (I am jumping and kicking my heels together).

I really haven't posted anything lately because I have been grieving! Yesterday, I decided I had better do something (to pull myself out of this) so I cut up the Lorax panel and a few strips to sew a boarder on then sewed the background to the main fabric on the first block for the Skill Builder BOM. The lesson is excellent, I followed the step-by-step instructions with no problems at all. The hardest part was choosing the colors I would use. I finished the block this morning, it is called "Soundwave" and I am sooo happy with it! The Ombre …

Go to the Quilting Gallery and become a Quilting Blogger

Image
I just went to the Quilting Gallery which is hosted by Pat Sloan and Michelle Foster. They have a huge database with links to thousands of blogs that all quilt. Last night I went on it looking around and found 8 other bloggers in my state. I like the idea of finding possible new friends who enjoy what I do to maybe go to a quilt show or sew with. So, follow the link, sign up, and grab a button!

While at the Quilting Gallery take a look around, I like the Learning Center. They just started a Beginner's Quilt Along, if you want some extra fun join in. They also have a Weekly Quilting Contest and they always need quilts and help with the voting. I like it because you get to see quilts from all over the world and all the different styles. It is easy to do and you don't have to jump through a bunch of hoops to have fun at 1:00 am in the morning.

Come on go check it out! When you join come back and leave a comment with your blog name on it and I will join any blogs I haven'…

"Fresh" by Deb Strain from Moda

It is not to late to join in the fun, you have until April 22, 2012, to post you creation over at festival of half square Triangles

Craftsy BOM blocks for April, block 1 completed. Hexagons by hand are impossible for me. I have difficulties sewing with my hands so I had to use my back up, my handy dandy sewing machine. I need to give her a name. But we will save that for another post.

I am helping out a friend and making a few of these Log Cabin Blocks for something she is working on. I know nothing about the fabrics except the solids are Robert Kaufman "Kona". My husband now wants a log cabin designed quilt for our bed.

Saturday was "Opening Day" around these parts for Little League Baseball. This is my little catcher at the bat. They grow up so fast, enjoy the time while it is here!

Saturday Morning, I decided to make these…

Lots of Things Got Done This Week & Links-Updated

Great giveaway Alert go to www.granmascharms.blogspot.com she is giving away 4 boxes of fabric.

I finally got this lovely done for Mr. David Platt. I really love Backyard Baby fabric it is so detailed. The hardest part for me to get completed when doing a quilt is the hand sewing on the binding. My mom picked out the orange Kona fabric, to make it pop. I am glad I followed her advice.

When you look up close, which is what little David will do, you will see the little woodpecker in the trees really comes out.
Gotta get it in the mail to St. Louis.
There are certain people you talk to when you have a blog or go to other blogs that you know if they lived down the road, you would be the best of friends. One of those people for me is Ali at Very Berry Handmade She is very thoughtful and sent me FROGS. I love this fabric, not only did she remeber that I love frogs, she gave me her winnings from a competition. Did I tell you she makes the most beautiful pincusions I have ever seen.
Frogs, …

Busy, Busy Week - Sewing

Wow, what a week with the Fugly Fabric Giveaways and Swaps. I made 3 trips to the post office but did not buy any fabric. I held my first giveaways and chose to winners - Richard and Lorelei. I won 2 giveaways myself (it is so exciting). I will show what I won, when they get here. I swapped the extra Fugly fabric I had with people in the USA the United Kingdom. When all the fabric swaps arrives I will post them for you to see. I am glad to have meet so many new friends from out in blogyourself next time.

Then I made my Blocks for Craftsy Block of the Month for February. I learned how to make a Balkan Puzzle Block, and Magic Triangles (make 4 HST at one time) cool way to do a Half Square Triangle (HST)
This block is called Chunky Chevron and is made with HST's, using the draw line method. I have used this method many times before, for making 2 blocks at a time. Amy Gibson at Stitchery Dickery Dock, is amazing in her tutorials, or (tuts) as the bloggers call them.

I really love B…
