PBS Fabrics Herringbone Baby Quilt

Image
I recently was offered opportunity to sew with Paintbrush Studio Fabrics Painters Palette Solid to making a Herringbone Baby Quilt.
The company sent the fabric and it was  like Christmas around here. The PBS Fabrics wanted to highlight the Painters Palette Solids collection but especially  Lipstick which is rows 3 and 4 in the quilt below. Painters Palette Solids Pantone color of the year!

The first thing I noticed where the colors  bright, the fabrics soft, light weight, and sleek! Perfect for a baby quilt or any quilt!
The colors included Painters Palette Solids
White, Crimson, Tomato, (2 rows) of Lipstick, Verbena, and Salmon

Quilt Qwazy Queens Giveaway

Image
Welcome to the Quilt Qwazy Queens blog Hop! My friends and I, with the great organization skills of Marian Seams To Be Sew are celebrating International Quilt Day by participating in this blog hop! You can win great prizes by simply visiting the blogs and leaving a comment! Then do the Rafflecopter!Marian told me I could write about anything. I am Lisa and I quilt and do a bunch of other crafty things in a rural area in West Virginia. I learned to sew after an accident left me disabled and unemployed. Having worked since I was 14 years old doing nothing was not an option. I could not work or drive but I needed something in my life to do. I have physical and mental issue to deal with during this time. A woman, the owner, with a lot of patience at a local quilt store took the time and a lot of effort to teach me the basics of how to use a sewing machine and quilt. Without Michelle and her staff at WV Quilt: Barboursville WV, I would never have learned. I am so grateful to the…

My favorite designer is Jinny Beyer. I have purchased many of her patterns and fabrics over the years. I am not familiar with many of the others on the list of designers you provided... Now is a good opportunity to get to know them as well! Thank you.

I will contact you tonight! 7 spools of Aurifil! Merry Christmas!

Spending all my free time the last couple weeks working on Christmas presents left little time for anything else. It was our Granddaughters first so I wanted to make her a little quilt. First I hand stitched the blocks on the panel (Stitch on Prints - December)

Then free motion quilting the quilt. I keep practicing but I am afraid I need lots more. I admire all you folks who have learned this skill. 2014 will be the year of the challenge in FMQ for me.

What is going

Image
Hi everyone, let me tell you about my wonderful week with toilets that didn't want to flush. Can you imagine no showers for 2 days, then only 5 minutes for the last 4 days. It takes that long to get the water right when your fixing it for a kid. Cannot wash clothes or use your dishwasher. Then you can use your dishwasher but water starts backing up in it and then a circuit on the board burns out. Slipped on a towel and twisted my back and that but me out for a few days. Just not the best week. All my vacation money just went down the drain literally! Sometimes I wish I never left the city. Ugh! My yard! It has a pump with it's own alarm system! For a septic system! Sometimes things happen in our lives that we think "I can't handle one more thing". Most everything were things that could be fixed and just annoyed me. My family are all healthy, I twisted my back, it happens, a few colds, but nothing serious! Thank you God! We will go on vacation next yea…

Modern Scrappy Bits Swap

Image
This is why I love participating in Flickr Swap Groups. I received a package in the mail the other day from the secret partner who got my name this round. There are thousands of swap groups going on at the Flickr site always needing people to join. Modern Scrappy Bits is in round 2 and I am hoping there will be a round 3! Danielle was responsible for sending me one fat quarter of scraps and a handmade item of her choice and she made me this beautiful mini quilt. So happy with her handmade, she is very talented. Thank you so much Danielle! This is the backing fabric! Sorry, don't know the name of it but it is really pretty! Modern scraps - oh how I love all these little pieces! Danielle sent me a wide range of scraps and definitely more than a fat quarter! Yippee fun! I like this so much because some I may not have ever boughten for myself but once I see them, I love them. On the other side, I might have it on my list of wanting at end of season, when they go on sale, and …

Dilemma

Image
Do I save this for the county fair and mail it to the mother with a hopeful ribbon or mail it to the mother when I am done? I still need to put the aqua border on it. I might put a little white 1 1/2" border around the pink, then the aqua border? Got any advice? I am listening!

The fair is in July I think? Is that to long to wait?
