Spent Time Creating

Image
I spent time making Ollie (daughter's dog) a bed and some toys out of scraps.

The flower looking toys are just the scraps from burp cloths stacked up and sew down the center 3 or 4 times. "Ollie" throws them around and plays with them. I bought the fabric for his bed at a thrift store for $2.00 and he is actually laying on it. The Baby Burp Cloths Pattern I always use is a free download from That Patchwork Place. All the flannel is very cute, soft, great quality, and bought at JoAnn fabric and craft stores. My daughter was really pleased because she picking out the fabric over the last 3 months. My favorite is this quilting cotton I bought somewhere by Deb Strain! Love the baby feet! Michael, Kristin, and I are walking a lot to get this baby moving. As we were walking through Walmart I told them if her water breaks grab a jar of "pickles" off the shelf and break it! I was kidding but I did hear that many times over the years. A visit on Monday to the matern…

Modern Scrappy Bits Swap

Image
This is why I love participating in Flickr Swap Groups. I received a package in the mail the other day from the secret partner who got my name this round. There are thousands of swap groups going on at the Flickr site always needing people to join. Modern Scrappy Bits is in round 2 and I am hoping there will be a round 3! Danielle was responsible for sending me one fat quarter of scraps and a handmade item of her choice and she made me this beautiful mini quilt. So happy with her handmade, she is very talented. Thank you so much Danielle! This is the backing fabric! Sorry, don't know the name of it but it is really pretty! Modern scraps - oh how I love all these little pieces! Danielle sent me a wide range of scraps and definitely more than a fat quarter! Yippee fun! I like this so much because some I may not have ever boughten for myself but once I see them, I love them. On the other side, I might have it on my list of wanting at end of season, when they go on sale, and …

Ghastlies have arrived

Image
Vicki @ Quilting Lodge had a giveaway of 2 yards of "A Ghastlie Night" The Alexander Henry Fabric Collection. I won yippee! She also put in a yard of this other "Ghastlie" fabric, which is beautiful! Best part my momma loves it. She can be a bit hard to please when it comes to fabric (does not sew) she thinks most of it is boring. Not the Ghastlies! laughing she ask me what I was making for her. Thank you Vicki you gave me an awesome prize.

I Love This Line! It is just fun! Speaking of Vicki, she just won "Best Appliqué Quilt Category" from Blogger's Quilt Festival @ Amy's Creative Side. So when I tell you she is really talented check out her blog "Quilting Lodge". When I emailed her the other day she told me she is working on a new pattern that will be coming out soon. I am sure it will be a winner. Anyone besides me love this "knitting group"! My husband's favorite cousins two children and their spouses had babies t…

Festival

Image
Well the Festival has began and I am already behind. I do have a bright idea, as you can see here:

"Fresh" by Deb Strain from Moda

It is not to late to join in the fun, you have until April 22, 2012, to post you creation over at festival of half square Triangles

Craftsy BOM blocks for April, block 1 completed. Hexagons by hand are impossible for me. I have difficulties sewing with my hands so I had to use my back up, my handy dandy sewing machine. I need to give her a name. But we will save that for another post.

I am helping out a friend and making a few of these Log Cabin Blocks for something she is working on. I know nothing about the fabrics except the solids are Robert Kaufman "Kona". My husband now wants a log cabin designed quilt for our bed.

Saturday was "Opening Day" around these parts for Little League Baseball. This is my little catcher at the bat. They grow up so fast, enjoy the time while it is here!

Saturday Morning, I decided to make these…

Great giveaway Alert go to www.granmascharms.blogspot.com she is giving away 4 boxes of fabric.

I finally got this lovely done for Mr. David Platt. I really love Backyard Baby fabric it is so detailed. The hardest part for me to get completed when doing a quilt is the hand sewing on the binding. My mom picked out the orange Kona fabric, to make it pop. I am glad I followed her advice.

When you look up close, which is what little David will do, you will see the little woodpecker in the trees really comes out.
Gotta get it in the mail to St. Louis.
There are certain people you talk to when you have a blog or go to other blogs that you know if they lived down the road, you would be the best of friends. One of those people for me is Ali at Very Berry Handmade She is very thoughtful and sent me FROGS. I love this fabric, not only did she remeber that I love frogs, she gave me her winnings from a competition. Did I tell you she makes the most beautiful pincusions I have ever seen.

Baby Burp Cloths

Image
I made today, one set is for my husbands cousins baby girl and the other is for my best friend Laura Freedmans grandson due February 2, 2012. I was told these shoulder burp cloths are great. I got the pattern from Martingale & Company, it is by That Patchwork Place, and it was a free download. One side is any cotton fabric, and the other is baby flannel. Very simple try one.
