Welcome to Getting Caught Up Hello, I am Lisa and if you haven’t been here before welcome! I hope you decide to follow along on my sewing and quilting adventures! This maybe old news to some of you and I love you for it! Thank you for sticking with me throughout the years!
I post on Instagram  Intheboondocksdaily  But my blogging hasn’t  covered a lot of the items  I have made!
I am working on baby quilts this week for new babies!

I am trying like other bloggers  to get back in the habit of  blogging at least once a week!  Now on to getting caught up!

I finished this free pattern from the Fat Quarter Shop Wave Your Flag Tablerunner

Hexagon Flower Pincushion  Fabric - Heather Ross Trixie

Back of pincushion- Heather Ross Strawberries

Thimblepads I keep them in a little tin!

Sue Daley Millners Needles  Size 11

Walnut shells

Small scissors and a needle threader!

Aurifil 80 weight thread
A hexagon flower sewn by hand using Aurifil 80 weight thread a piece of backing fabric!  (2) pieces of Pellon SF101 cut to size!
Iron the Pellon  to each back of fabric! It will strengthen  the front side of each side!
Draw a circle on the backside  of your flower! I used a measuring cup,  to draw a circle!
Put fabrics right sides together and sew 1/4” inside the circle!

All the way around!

It will look like above!

Use a seam ripper to make about a 1 1/2” gap

Big enough to put your finger in!

Trim around the circle  (About a 1/4”) Leaving room for clipping!

Clip all around the circle  and be careful not to clip the stitches!

DIY Infinity Scarf

The  Fat Quarter Shop Project Remix

A scarf in the Summer! Yes! It is super soft, lightweight, and brings color to your day!

Tutorial by Crystal of Hello Creative Family  30 Minute Infinity Scarf

I am doing a one month challenge of only using Sewtites  (No pins or clips) and they worked perfect sewing the end together!

The pattern is great for beginners and does not take very long to complete! It only took me 30 minutes to complete.

The Fabric Pick a fabric you think is gorgeous,  that you don’t want to cut all up and sew back together.   It is perfect and stands out all on its own! I bought this fabric over 2 years ago second hand.   I knew it was vintage and prewashed.   It is a vintage lawn that we figured out.   Who made it nothing positive. Looks like, feels like, but couldn’t find it in a database of Liberty. It is 2 beautiful yards of Vintage Lawn and so soft!

Retreat Bag 2.0

Image
I love Santa Fe by Sara Watts as soon as I saw it in the Culcita box I knew I wanted something special.  My husbands birthday was coming up so I decided on a medicine pouch! It had to be big and different!
I saw a post on IG for the Internal Wire Frames for the Retreat Bag 2.0 by Emmaline Bags it said the pattern was free. I am sorry I don’t remember the shops name.  The frames for the large where $4.00 so I bought 4. I figured if it proved to hard I’d sell the rest. But if I liked the pattern I had them on hand to make more! Do you ever do that? Sometimes I end up with a bunch of junk I will never use.  But not this time! He loves the bag!  It is big and roomy!

It has two pockets.
 Problems for me
Never sewn a zipper on the outside of a bag before. So, I searched on YouTube and found a video tutorial on sewing the bag by Birdcage and Thread. She does a great job explaining everything you need to do to make the bag.

The hardware intimidated me! How in Heaven was I going to sew bars into t…

Hideaway Quilt

I was so excited when Fat Quarter Shop invited me to participate in AGF Stitched with Kimberly!  When I began working on the project my thought was to use this beautiful fabric and make my new granddaughter who was due April 1, 2018 a grand quilt.

These blocks are super easy for a beginner and the quilt pattern is available for free.
The  Hideaway Quilt Video with Kimberly Jolly is available to help you!
The AGF Stitched Quilt for this Thursday  is the Hideaway with a FREE Pattern!
Along with the pattern, the Fat Quarter Shop has the Hideaway Quilt Kit and matching Backing Set that features Capsules Nest by AGF Studios for Art Gallery Fabrics. The Quilt Kit features the Capsules Nest Make-A-Wish Panel that truly delightful for any child.  All the blocks on the panel showcase the animal themes that are featured throughout the collection.

After quilting the last 7 years this panel is one of my favorites  Capsule Nest Make A Wish Foundation Fabric Panel (I am buying a few extra’s for future baby…

First Finish in 2018

As a longtime love of Libs Elliott fabric last year I joined the #libselliottminiswap on Instagram!  It was great fun foundation paper piecing this pattern together.  It is call “Hot Lips” and is available as a download from her website  Libs Elliott

A great pattern to machine quilt because it is not to big and I got to play around with the quilting with different colors of Aurifil thread.  The quilt is 20” x 20” and I think my new favorite color of Aurifil 50wt thread is this gorgeous pink 2530!

In return I received this beautiful mini for my wall!

Thank you for stopping by! Lisa
