County Fair

The Cabell County Fair has come and gone! But the Ribbons they left behind continue to brighten my day! I hope others quilters participate in their local fair! It is the best place to learn about Judges. Some are kind and very helpful. Then others are rude and downright mean. But in reality they have no control over anything just a Ribbon and sometimes cash prizes. Our fair cash prizes are $2 for first place and $1 for second. I have no plans to let a Judge decide my fate in the quilt world. I love these canvas fabrics I found in a box at a quilt shop. Very bright Pink, Orange, an a yellowish green, sounds like it might not go together but I think it sewed together beautifully! I used two Aurifil 12 wt. threads #2530 #2235 to add "In The Boon Docks" Anna Marie Horner ribbon 5/8" Gold Arrow Feathers. I love Aurifil threads and their company so when someone ask me what Aurifil is I tell them "The best thread you can use for quilting or sewing with the most b

A Lovely Year of Finishes - September Goal

Image
For months I have gotten e-mails from bloggers all doing "A Lovely Year Of Finishes"! It only took me 9 months to try it myself! Let's see how it goes. The one goal for the month of September 2013 will be to quilt " Meet The Lorax " so David can put it on his bed when it gets cold. Usually, I send my quilts to a good friend who quilts them for me at very little cost. I have thought about just sending it to her so it would be perfect but inside I think I really want to do it myself! Nothing fancy just some straight line quilting down the rows maybe 3" apart. So, I make this my goal for the month and we will see if I can get it done or run off to the long-arm quilter if I have to pick it all out. I will keep you posted. I don't know Zoey, you think I can quilt it myself? Nana is sure going to try! Thank you for stopping by "In The Boon Docks"! Until next time, Create and be unique, Lisa I am linking up with Shanna @ Fiber of All Sorts Do

Welcome to "In The Boon Docks"! I went to freshly pieced for WiP wednesday and there are over a hundred blogs all linked together! I have decided I would like to participate on Wednesdays! I hope you will join me! Working on next months "Stitch on Prints". I love this child's print but it came in a scrap pack, so no info on it. Lorax is back - I cut the 10" blocks out for more blocks! A finish - Woo hoo! The Aspen Frost mini quilt I was hand stitching here is all binded and done. I have to admit, I need more practice on my stitches! I will say we have a lot of iPads and Kindles out there! I am still trying to get threw all the comments! The best thing for a blogger is a full inbox! I had a giveaway once with only 5 people, so this is really Awesome! Yippee! (I am jumping and kicking my heels together). I really haven't posted anything lately because I have been grieving! Yesterday, I decided I had better do something (to pull myself out of this) so I cut up the Lorax panel and a few strips to sew a boarder on then sewed the background to the main fabric on the first block for the Skill Builder BOM . The lesson is excellent, I followed the step-by-step instructions with no problems at all. The hardest part was choosing the colors I would use. I finished the block this morning, it is called "Soundwave" and I am sooo happy with it! The O
