Once again these block where not difficult and fun to do! Home life was busy here so I completed my 15 blocks in two days.  The sew along has you make one block a day of each block!

I loved making the little boats! I thought of our Sailors days they said  “A red sky at night was a sailors delight!” The meaning being calm seas!

If you are on Instagram, I am @intheboondocks, (Please follow, I will follow back)   and the way to see everyones blocks Is in the Search section type in the tag #tricketsal  last I read there are 5,000 blocks!

I think the best part is seeing everyones differences  in how they interpret what color choices to use!
Lines 1 - 10

Well today starts week 3 the lines are over and it is onto Shapes!
Thank you for reading and following along!

Trinket Sew Along Week 1 Blocks

Image
TheTrinket Sew Along started last week. If you click on the link you can find out all about it and where to get the pattern!  The picture above is the look I am striving to achieve, with some variations of course.  I did decide to use Moda Grunge for the background instead of gray I am going with the Grunge Black!

Each day Monday - Friday you post that days block!

I am making 3 blocks for each day!  The FPP (foundation paper piecing) blocks are not hard or time consuming! A pattern even a beginner can do!

I am using Alison Glass fabrics I have collected over the years.  But you can use any fabrics you like!

Most of my block are made from 5” charm squares!

Lines #4 is my favorite block for Week 1! If you need help with FPP search the site in the search block.   I have tips and tricks.  Have a look in my toolbox! Tools in my toolbox

Sew Together Bag

Image
I finally after years of wanting another Sew Together Bag, Pattern by @sewdemented on Instagram  started one on yesterday! You can find the .pdf pattern in Michelle’s IG profile or purchase a paper copy in a quilt store or online at Fat Quarter Shop
I bought the pattern 2 summers ago and found it intimidating so I decided to check YouTube and I found Margaret’s video which took the intimidation away! She is very personable and goes through set by step!  You have to still buy the pattern because she gives no dimensions!
You can find Margaret online Margaret of MMQ https://youtu.be/Lrvud8RWFIU Margaret Leuwen Quilting

Here is my progress

I am doing it all in Alison Glass Fabric! Hope to finish it today! What are you sewing? Does a pattern ever intimidate you? Leave a comment!
Big hugs! Lisa

Whats up In The Boon Docks

Image
Blueberry Park fabric just cheers up a room! I finished quilting the blocks and turned turned them into pillows. Covered up my old and worn couch pillows. In The Boon Docks: Sewing and Family is where I wrote about making these blocks and how I did it. I started working on this Alison Glass embroidery pattern while my daughter was in the hospital! I drew it out using the hold it up to the window method (light box) with the fabric over the pattern, using my washable pen. So, when I am all done was the ink away with a washcloth! Only problem it gets kinda wrinkly. If I iron it the steam it my take away the drawing. My Floss StoryKnowing I would not have a sewing machine available for 2 weeks I packed projects I could work on in the hospital! I packed this pattern and a variety of Aurifil Thread weights. I was going to do this project with all Aurifil Floss, but somehow the floss bag got left at home. Instead, I only had 12 wt., 50 wt., and 80 wt., so I used what I had! I am very…

Geranium Dress and other makes

Hello Everyone, I have had such an exciting week with the birth of little Miss Lilly, her Momma's C-section, and no wi-fi in their home to do my posting! It is delightful being here but I guess you never think of something until you don't have it! Lucky me, I will walk down the road to a candy store to post! But hey whatever works and they offered! More about them another time. Meet Miss Kennedy, my new kinda Granddaughter! She is Lilly's half sister by another Mom. She is sporting my first ever dress by me without a pattern, In Cotton and Steel's Panda fabric! She is such a beautiful and sweet little girl! She loved playing princess for me after I made her dress but is a little camera shy. I will claim her! Miss Lilly Anne who arrived on Monday, May 1, 2017, at 8 lbs 4 oz, and 20 inches long, is sporting a Geranium Dress, also Cotton and Steel's Panda fabric! I have a link a few posts back for the free Geranium Dress Pattern (0 - 3 months) by Made-by-Ra…

Spellbound Quilt Along Part 1

Image
Spellbound Quilt AlongHi Everyone, welcome to In The Boon Docks! I am almost done with my Spellbound Quilt and will have it up tomorrow! An few unexpected hospital procedures and running out of a primary fabric kind of threw me for a loop!Tips1. I use small Wonder clips to show what side to sew on and a large Wonder clip to hold each section together! This helps when you are chain piecing!2. Use a 1/4" sewing foot on you machine and Chain piece - even the strips it will go faster that way.3. Get the Creative Grid 90 Degree Double Strip Ruler you will find lots of uses for these and other blocks you can think up. It is a great investment and so easy to use.Check out the Spellbound Quilt Along - Fat Quarter Shop's Jolly Jabber then watch the Youtube Video to see just how easy these beautiful blocks are to make. I am making this quilt for my Granddaughter and am super excited about getting it finished. Please stop by the other bloggers in the quilt along and see the variety of w…

Hazel Swap

Image
I spent a lot of time working on my Hazel Maina Swap. Choosing the pattern was easy but the size I had to think about! Elizabeth Hartman of Patterns by Elizabeth Hartman — HAZEL HEDGEHOG II pdf quilt pattern comes in two sizes with this pattern so I made the pillow size. My partner had asked for a Magical Hazel so I spent time pick just the right fabrics from my Alison Glass collections. I really love the white and gold border fabric from her new line Seventy Six | Alison Glass, oh heck I love all her fabric! It was really hard to mail her off. The pattern is super easy! Pick a size and get started! I haven't seen an ugly Hazel yet have you? Then I received the Hazel of my dreams! Rainbow Hazel is just beautiful in her grunge colors (I need these fabrics)! My partner, Jen @justjoshinkids did an amazing job! I am completely satisfied and have Hazel hanging where I can admire her beauty! My daughter visited this weekend and tried to steal her, but not this time! She is…

2017 Comes Roaring In

Image
These are my happy little people! They make my heart sing and tears flow when they are unhappy. Today was Miss Z's Birthday, the big 4 and I didn't even get to call her. We see her on Sunday for her party. Happy Birthday sweet girl Nana loves you! This guy is growing up so fast! Handsome, shy, and smart he will have the ladies lined up one day. He is just fine and healthy for his age! We had a great time at a couple of girls birthday party. Here is another one of our babies "Tia" at almost 14 weeks she is learning to play with other dogs next door more her size and trying to stay out of "George" and "Brandy's" way. When she get tired she finds me and sleeps on my feet as I sew. I have spent more time with her training her to be a lover not a fighter, and I will say it is very tiring but rewarding. Snowball, Aurifil, and I are working on few secret projects! It is keeping me busy. I think 2017 will be quite the quilty year for me. Som…
