Retreat Bag 2.0

Image
I love Santa Fe by Sara Watts as soon as I saw it in the Culcita box I knew I wanted something special.  My husbands birthday was coming up so I decided on a medicine pouch! It had to be big and different! I saw a post on IG for the Internal Wire Frames for the Retreat Bag 2.0 by Emmaline Bags it said the pattern was free. I am sorry I don’t remember the shops name.  The frames for the large where $4.00 so I bought 4. I figured if it proved to hard I’d sell the rest. But if I liked the pattern I had them on hand to make more! Do you ever do that? Sometimes I end up with a bunch of junk I will never use.  But not this time! He loves the bag!  It is big and roomy! It has two pockets.  Problems for me  Never sewn a zipper on the outside of a bag before. So, I searched on YouTube and found a video tutorial on sewing the bag by Birdcage and Thread. She does a great job explaining everything you need to do to make the bag. The hardware intimidated me! How in Heaven was I going to sew bars i

Reuse Remake Recycle

Things have really changed around our household in the last couple of weeks.  My oldest daughter,  Ashley is having many health problems associated with her pregnancy! Diabetes has taken over her life and lead to a week in the hospital.  It made it hard to care for herself and 9 month old Lilly.  Now both are here at our house until baby is born.  Sometimes, as parents you have to do what is best for your family even if it inconveniences everyone.  Our family wants Ashley and the baby healthy.  When the baby is born Ashley and her family will go back to Wheeling, WV.  Until then we will all share our small house together and help each other out. I was trying to find something to put Lilly’s blocks in so I made her this basket! The fabric was from a yard sale $.25!  It was from a clothing factory that was once in Huntington, WV.  It came on a roll and was 2” wide.  Give life to something old! It started out like this on the roll and then I folded over and just sewed it together.  Obviou

First Finish in 2018

Image
As a longtime love of Libs Elliott fabric last year I joined the #libselliottminiswap on Instagram!  It was great fun foundation paper piecing this pattern together.  It is call “Hot Lips” and is available as a download from her website   Libs Elliott !  A great pattern to machine quilt because it is not to big and I got to play around with the quilting with different colors of Aurifil thread.  The quilt is 20” x 20” and I think my new favorite color of Aurifil 50wt thread is this gorgeous pink 2530! In return I received this beautiful mini for my wall! Thank you for stopping by! Lisa
