Aurifil Thread Giveaway - Black and White

Let's talk thread!

As Quilters and Sewers - thread binds everything we create together.

Some will say the most important item is fabric,
spend the extra on fabric,
I say buy the best thread!

Cheap cotton threads breaks and rots after a few years.
Have a problem with your thread breaking
try a spool of Aurifil 50 wt. thread!
It may just cure it!

Just a side note - if you have old thread that was given to you,
use it as a decoration don't use it in your machine.
Never buy old thread for sewing,
it will just cause you a lot of frustration.

When I needed a bag to hold my smaller rulers,
I chose Aurifil 50 wt thread to zig zag the bag
because it is strong and durable!

I use white to sew almost everything light colored and that includes topstitching. I went back months searching my most used color and go figure it is Aurifil 50 wt. thread #2021, Natural White!

It only goes to say that my other most used color
of Aurifil 50 wt. thread is #2692, Black! Sometimes topstitching has to mat…

County Fair

The Cabell County Fair
has come and gone!
But the Ribbons they left behind
continue to brighten my day!

I hope others quilters participate
in their local fair!
It is the best place to learn about Judges.
Some are kind and very helpful.
Then others are rude and downright mean.

But in reality they have no control over
anything just a Ribbon and sometimes cash prizes.
Our fair cash prizes are $2 for first place and $1 for second.
I have no plans to let a Judge decide my fate in the quilt world.

I love these canvas fabrics I found in a box at a quilt shop. Very bright Pink, Orange, an a yellowish green, sounds like it might not go together but I think it sewed together beautifully!

I used two Aurifil 12 wt. threads
to add "In The Boon Docks"

Anna Marie Hornerribbon
5/8" Gold Arrow Feathers.

I love Aurifil threads and their company
so when someone ask me what Aurifil
is I tell them "The best thread you can use for quilting
or sewing with the most brilliant

I follow your blog! :)
Think Ruffles Blog Hop Welcome to "In The Boon Docks" and Day 1 of the "Think Ruffles Blog Hop"! My name is Lisa and I am so happy you are here today to see my quilt with ruffles! I have to thank Madam Samm @Sew We Quiltand Amy (Head Cheerleader)@ Sew Incredibly Crazy for arranging this great hop!
What is a ruffle? There are lots of different kinds and Madam Samm left it open to interpretation. She showed us how to make some and at the time I was thinking; ruffled bloomers, ruffled dresses, ruffled pillows. Then I saw a quilt in a magazine with what looked like ruffles! I kind of browsed through the issue of Quilt-it today, March/April 2014 issue and left it in my rocking chair and went to work. The second time I read the "Garden Path" pattern by Ann Baxter, (I had already made the quilt), it read "ruching", you don't know the horr…

What's Up Thursday

I finished the red pouch for the winner of the Grow Your Blog, Val @ Val's Quilting Studio. I hope she likes it!She has a great blog and could use some new visitors! Maybe some of you could drop by and take a look. It was the Grow Your Blog Giveaway. As I have done before, I used Aurifil 12 wt. thread in my sewing machine to accent! Now I have this pink pouch I finished and have to find a use for it! Do you use pouches to keep your things in around the house or a ziplock bag? I have been going around looking for the ziplocks and replacing them with my pouches! Looks so much neater. Speaking of Aurifil threads I moved all mine into this great Nuts and Bolts holder from the hardware store to have it all together right by my sewing machine. Looking at the hardware store for storage options can be very rewarding. The craft stores have similar products at twice the cost. You would be amazed at what you can find. Finished my block for the Aurifil Designer of the MonthThis months …

Stitch On Prints Experiment and Aurifil Giveaway

Giveaway Closed!Stitch on Prints

Welcome to "In The Boon Docks"! 2014 is going to be the year of Experiments. "Stitch on Prints" is taking a turn from hand stitching only to include experiments in the use of different weights of threads along with varying stitch sizes on your personel sewing machine to create unique looks!

The Giveaway of (2) 12 wt spools of thread is provided by Aurifil. Please visit our sponsor sales links provided below when you need a new spool.

The other day when I was looking at the Aurifl site and I found this tidbit Aurifil 12 wt Embellishment and Sashiko dreams! I began to experiment with the machine settings, needles, threads and loved the texture of the heavier thread stitched with a sewing machine.

Here is what I did to create this look!

I used these setting on my new Juki Exceed Home DecorHZL-F300that my wonderful hubby bought me for Christmas. What a killer deal that was and better left for another time.

Changed the needle to a 100/16…

My favorite designer is Jinny Beyer. I have purchased many of her patterns and fabrics over the years. I am not familiar with many of the others on the list of designers you provided... Now is a good opportunity to get to know them as well! Thank you.

I will contact you tonight! 7 spools of Aurifil! Merry Christmas!

Spending all my free time the last couple weeks working on Christmas presents left little time for anything else. It was our Granddaughters first so I wanted to make her a little quilt. First I hand stitched the blocks on the panel (Stitch on Prints - December)

Then free motion quilting the quilt. I keep practicing but I am afraid I need lots more. I admire all you folks who have learned this skill. 2014 will be the year of the challenge in FMQ for me.

I approached April Cobb in August about making a quilt from the Modern Yardage fabric. We discussed several options and decided on a quilt made from designer Karen Harris' fabrics. She said she had never seen a quilt made with Karen's fabrics and agreed to let me choose fabrics to include in the quilt. I was very impressed with the owner of Modern Yardage and the internet site. First you choose th…
