Baby Photographer?

My husband and I decided to make a quick run to our daughters yesterday for the day, to see her family. My daughter wanted me to take some photographs of "Zoey" for birth announcements. We went out and bought a few props and came back to the apartment and went to work. My daughters significant other was at work until 7 pm last night. His reaction to what was going on when he got home made me laugh. I will explain more in a minute. Here are the photos of our attempt to get the perfect shot! Ha ha. Our beautiful butterfly! This is my favorite one but look at all the junk in the background! Here she was telling me "Please give me my pacifier back"! Don't take a binky away from a tired baby! Oops bad idea! Happy baby with the big ugly plug! Lessons Learned : Pay for professional pictures, those photographers earn every penny! I present 5 week old "Zoey" Now back to Michael, he came rushing through the apartment door because as he said "I co

Joining Flickr Group

Leona is having a Tula Pink Giveaway @ Leona's Quilting Adventure Hurry on over to sign up! Rooster on the loose! Over two weeks ago, the rooster escaped from the hen house and ever since has run all over the property avoiding all my efforts to recapture him. He has been chased by dogs and now the chihuahua runs from the rooster. There was an ice storm last night and he seemed to have come out of it unscathed. While I was doing my chicken chores this morning he hung around and eat corn I threw to him. I am hoping maybe he will decide to move back in with his hens soon. My newest pouch for my swap partner in the Flickr group Modern Scrappy Bits Swap . I have learned how to make needle books, fabric baskets, and pouches. I recommend joining swap groups. Mail Call

Gmama Jane's of GrandMama's Stories , Dare To Dresden Blog Hop, giveaway arrived in the mail yesterday. I am so in love with her mini quilt that has come to live "In The Boon Docks" it will be cherished I promise! It is already hung on the wall with the other small quilts I have acquired. My goal is to one day have this wall completely covered with little quilts by all the talented women I have met in blogland. It is funny how small the world really is with the internet at our finger tips. Jane and her husband both went to Marshall University here in West Virginia not 30 minutes from my home. They are coming for a college function in April and have invited me to meet with them. I am excited! Thank you Jane, for the wonderful giveaway goodies and the invite! It is 29 degrees here today "In The Boon Docks" with snow flurries. Good weather to stay indoors and sew! Hope you get a chance to sew today too! Lisa

The Covert Robin

I have signed up for: I am working on a pouch for my partner in the Modern Scrappy Bits Swap . I am using Perle Cotton to outline the boxes on both the front and the back of the pouch. Having never done this before it is a mystery how it will turn out but I do like the colors. Pairing Robert Kaufman, Kona Solid " Coal " and a mini charm of V and Co., " Simply Color " makes for a bright and happy pouch.. Here "In The Boon Docks", it is very cold and windy! A good day to stay inside and sew! Thank you for stopping by and please consider signing up at Rachael's Imagine Gnats for The Covert Robin . The link will take you right to her door to find out more. Enjoy your day! Lisa

Chef's Apron

For Valentine's Day I was making an apron for my husband then my digital sewing machine "Martha" stopped stitching on the bottom side. Sears thinks it is the timing, what a drag! So I pulled out my old Kenmore that I take to classes and sew ins and finally got it finished yesterday. "Better late than never", I always say! My husband loves hot sauce and puts it on almost anything. I think it covers up my horrible cooking. Which is why I try to avoid it whenever possible. He is such a good sport! It is only 32 degrees outside and he even brought utensils to simulate cooking. After about 20 photos he was freezing. The reversible apron is Michael Miller " Smokin Hot Black " fabric on one side! Just perfect for his need for sauce. He decided if I was getting anymore pictures he was going to be warm in his work coat. The fabric on this side is Michael Miller " Groovy Guitar Gray " everyone needs a little music with dinner! When I cut off

Happy Valentine's Day

Cynthia of Green Couch Designs created this beauty! I felt very honored to receive one! She is so talented! Thank you! Love can mean so much! I am one lucky woman! Forever sewing something, Lisa (Even if the satellite dish is not working! My sewing machine won't stitch right and will take weeks to get repaired! Ugh, I have these two beautiful children, a spare machine, and a loving husband). Happy Valentine's Day May God Bless You All With Love Today And Everyday!

Cute Hat

I received the book "Little Stitches for Little Ones" by Amy Butler for Christmas. It has a lot of great projects in it. My daughter found this cute "Butterfly Hat" and wanted me to make one for Zoey. Only problem I have never sewn a hat in my life. Looking through the patterns for the book I found the one for the hat in a variety of baby sizes. Using my handy plastic mat, I placed it over the pattern on the window with the most light shining in (cheap light box) and trace it onto the mat with a permanent marker. David wanted to keep it for his bulldog! Several tips: 1. Use a print with no words! 2. Use a tiny print! 3. Measure the babies head! It is a great pattern and very well written but I made a few mistakes I thought I would share. As for the hat it should fit soon! Thanks for stopping by "In The Boon Docks"! Quilting THERAPY

Over at stash Books there is a great post " The Emotions of Quilting: A Series / Quilting is my Therapy by Angela Walters " by Allison on January 31st, 2013. I tried to leave a comment on it but it just didn't work for me today. So, after thinking about it, I decided the topic was one I would share with all of you. They asked the question: So tell us – what kind of therapy does quilting provide for you? I really cherish each and everyone of you so much. Thank you for following "In The Boon Docks". Now here is my response: Quilting became my therapy after an accident in 2000 left me disabled. I could not longer work in my profession or any other. I identified myself through my work. It was my purpose in life to provide for my family. After losing that I was lost! A doctor told me to find something meaningful that I could do within my limitations! It took a few years until I stumbled into a LQS (Local Quilt Store) WV Quilts whose owner and staff wh

Chicken Farmers?

" Dare to Dresden" Blog Hop Giveaway is HERE It never fails when someone moves to go back to civilization they call my DH (dear husband) to find a new home for their country loved ones. So on Thursday, at 10 pm, we get a call to pick up 4 chickens that night, the closing on their house was at 10 am, in the morning, and that was how we became "Chicken Farmers". Only thing, we have no idea how to take care of 1 chicken much less 3 hens and a rooster. The first 2 nights they slept in a big dog cage inside a small pull behind trailer on my porch, covered with an old blanket. Why you might ask? Because it has snowed for days on in here! So the first thing in the morning, my DH and FIL (father-in-law) went to work on a chicken coop! Mr. Rooster thinks it get light at 4:30am, about 3 hours early, and the dominate hen wants to kill everyone in the pin! Fun fun, not at 4:30 in the morning. They are quite pretty and I think it is a wonderful chicken coop. When it wa
